Mission Statement
The Advent Christian Student Ministries Commission exists to encourage, equip and empower the local church by discipling Student Ministry leaders for maximum impact.
Core Values
Biblically-Centered - The Bible will be our guide.
While there are many resources available today for the serious student ministry leader, nothing can replace the Bible. Our trust is in the word of God.
We are committed to a faithful study of God’s word in order to discover his ways. Our strategies and objectives will reflect this practice.
Every attempt to carry out the work of the Student Ministry Commission will be based upon a careful consideration of biblical principles. It is our belief that an effective student ministry is based upon the word of God. It will be our goal to share these principles and practices with those in the ministry of bringing the gospel to students.
Individually-Focused - The person will be our priority.
In an age when we are given social security numbers at birth and students have memorized their student ID number for school, people are longing to be recognized.
In Luke 19:5, “Jesus said to him, “Zacchaeus hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.” Jesus’ ministry was focused on individuals. Calling them by name and spending quality focused time with them. As a Commission we will prioritize people over programs.
Relationally-Connected - Connecting people will be our passion.
In each one of us there is a need to be known and to connect with others.
Recognizing this, we will cultivate relationships with Student Ministry leaders in the local church, discipling them and encouraging them as they make disciples on the local level.
Culturally-Relevant - Engaging our community through our presence.
Recognizing that student ministry is ever changing, we will strive to encourage student ministries that are transforming lives through cultural relevance.
Missionally-Driven - Helping leaders develop and outward focus.
Jesus came to seek and to save the lost, often spending time with those who did not fit with the religious leaders of the day. We will challenge student ministry leaders to build meaningful relationships with students who may never come inside the walls of the church.
